Are certain times of the year more enjoyable for you than others? It used to be that those who suffer from seasonal allergies had little recourse against their symptoms; staying indoors was one of the only things they could do to gain relief. Those days, however, are long over!
Change your bedding frequently, and wash using hot water. Pollen, dust, and other allergens can stick to your clothing and hair and can get deposited on your bedding. Sheets and pillowcases may appear clean, but can harbor irritants that will affect you while you sleep. These allergens easily wash away when the items are cleaned in hot water.
Even when people try to avoid the things that cause their allergic reactions, they might not be aware of conditions in their environment that can worsen their symptoms. Smoking, aerosol sprays, pollution, fumes, and humidity all can cause increases in the symptoms for people who suffer from allergies and should be monitored.
Skin tests can detect the presence of an allergy, but they are far less useful for predicting how severe the reaction will be when you encounter the allergen in the real world. For instance, your allergy panel may show that you have allergies to a particular kind of spore. It may be that you suffer only very mild symptoms when the allergen is present, or you may suffer nothing whatsoever.
It is possible that the root of your allergy problem can be found on your own body. It’s definitely true! As you do the regular things you do throughout the day, pollen and dust sticks into your hair, body and clothing. You bring this stuff back into the home. You breathe it in. You transfer it to your bedding. Before going to bed, you should take a shower to wash off all these harmful allergens so you can wake up feeling refreshed.
There are a lot of allergy and antihistamine products on the market which do not require a prescription; however, you will find that everyone reacts differently to each product. Ask your doctor to prescribe a trial sample of the drugs first. If the product doesn’t help you reduce your symptoms, then you can try another without wasting too much money.
If you suffer from food allergies, do not be afraid to ask about ingredients at gatherings or carry-ins. Most people will not mind telling you what is in a dish, and you can avoid potentially harmful reactions. If you are concerned about having enough to eat, prepare a dish to share that you know is safe for you to eat.
Getting rid of carpeting in your home can help your allergies because carpeting often traps a lot of allergens. Check under your carpeting and you may find that you have beautiful hard wood floors hiding underneath. You may like the look better and it will be better for your health and your family’s health.
If you struggle with seasonal allergies, you have many different options at your disposal to deal with your symptoms. Because everyone’s allergies are unique, some of the methods described above could be more or less helpful to you, and you may find that trying several methods at once is your best option.
