Are you rested when you arise in the morning? Or, have you been tossing and turning all night, desperately trying to get some shuteye? Insomnia can make you lazy. You need to get this taken care of, and you may find your answers below.
Come up with methods of reducing your stress and anxiety. A morning exercise routine helps to alleviate stress. In contrast, rigorous activity before bedtime releases endorphins, which makes it difficult to doze off at bedtime. When it’s nighttime you can try meditation or yoga before climbing into bed. These techniques are relaxing and can help quiet your overactive mind.
Shut down your computer and turn the TV off about an hour prior to going to bed. Devices like these are stimulating. Turn these off earlier so you can focus on relaxing and falling asleep. Make a routine of turning off the TV and your computer after a set hour.
Try to sleep enough so that your body feels rested. Don’t think you should sleep longer because it’s making up for lost sleep, or to try and sleep in to make the future right. As long as you make a habit of sleeping enough hours every single night, you’ll be able to build a regular sleep schedule. Do not bank hours or avoid doing it some days.
If you often suffer from insomnia, maybe you want to consider buying a firm mattress. A soft mattress will not give your body the full support it needs. It may exacerbate an already existing problem. Invest in a firm mattress to help you get a good night’s sleep.
Get out and get some exercise. You might not know it, but office workers are more affected by insomnia than others are. You need to get your body tired to sleep well. At a minimum, try walking for a mile or two when you get home from work.
Try using a routine for sleep. Your body may sense a pattern in your current schedule and sticking to it. Sleeping at random times will just make insomnia worse.
Try going to sleep by having your body facing north and south. Your head should face north and your feet should be to the south. This practice will align your being with the magnetic fields of the planet earth. In this way, you will be in a greater state of harmony. It might sound odd, but some people swear by it.
Keep those tablets and computers in another room altogether. These devices will keep you up if you bring them in the bedroom. Just turn them off and leave them in the other room so you can get your rest. Let your body have the chance to relax.
You don’t need to eat a huge meal before bed, but you shouldn’t go to sleep hungry either. A small snack can help you get a better night’s rest. It can trigger serotonin, so you can relax.
